Love is powerful but hatred is potent.
You could be working on an awesome project that you really love but if your boss is an absolute asshole and your closest workmate also thinks they are an absolute asshole, you and your friend will be bonded by hatred of your boss - not the love of project.
Hatred = a passionate one night stand (potent)
Love = a slow burn loving marriage (boundless)
