I'm not really sure what goes on in other "social media land" but all I imagine is walled gardens, minimal interoperability amongst applications, restrictions, pay to win bot followers with the illusion of privacy granted to you through an email login and ID verification. All I see on Nostr is better clients being built, more customization for how the individual wants to interact, zaps, still bot follows, mutes, lists, highlights. More of the users actually taking interest in the "under the hood" shit the apps do, how they manage their relays, how their feeds are displayed based on preference. It's more hands on here. You can bend this to your liking, and it only gets easier with time, the more goofy apps and useful widgets get tacked on. Seemless swapping through different presentations of the same thing. I'm on mobile posting this from a "web" client because extension signers are bending the lines. This is user empowerment. Not some pre approved presented context for the simpleton to subscribe and slave to.
