Well, if you want to host your own RSS you do need your own server, but can't you use someone else's http server to make your feed available.

yes, however the difference is as a user I can use other users relays. I don't have to have my own relay to make my events (data) available. whereas for RSS I need to have FTP access to my server. or a friends server that is configured with my domain

So I can host my feed on Podbean, and have my domain be badtothebone.com, and I don't have to configure podbeans server with my domain name, and I can still have a feed.
