Over the same time period against gold US$/oz, back to Jan 1959, The Dow is -41.4%, a CAGR of ~ -0.8% over 67 years. For S&P, ~ -14%, a CAGR of ~ -0.2% over 67 years.
You can go much further back with gold though, 1884 for S&P and 1896 for Dow.

Sorry I meant AU/M2 but that is interesting to see equities CAGR priced in gold too.
