Would be interesting to read about your initial experience and pain points - I’m going the same way when my iPhone is EoL.
You can be free only on free iron, not much exists nowadays with sufficient horsepower, but at least PCs could be free enough. Mobile devices can't, even by law (mandatory secret baseband), so well... Do not consider Graphene as a really free place! A GNU/Linux distro could be considered a bit yours but not else.
I have phones here running Linux distro’s But to be used daily, that’s a real pain in the ass But why is GrapheneOS not that free as Ubuntu Touch or PostmarketOS for example?
Because it run on proprietary SoCs. Of course Intel or AMD platforms are not free as well but at least they are open platform. Beside smartphones are made to control and milk users, while desktops are still for produce things
Unfortunately IMVHO there are no usable, reasonably free mobile solutions, that's why I'm sick to desktop as much as I can. It's a more complex topic though because the main point is that a modern society need remote work, so desktops, homes with semi-autonomous power, sheds, not mobile to continuously moving between big buildings in dense areas. The gig economy need the very contrary: to push people owning nothing they need dense cities, large buildings, collective transport and so on, but that's against current tech evolution, so it will fail with much pain.
good luck. i tried but still have to dual wield graphene and ios for various purposes.
