I always use em dashesβ€”and I'll continue using them. No AI is taking the dashes away from me
I need to look into that. apparently the small AI model its using can be run in the browser
Usually you just type two hyphens together and the editor converts it to an em-dash. For this of us old enough to remember using typewriters, that is, typographically, how you type an em-dash on a typewriter.
LLMs were trained on human writing so many people somewhere must have used them for the LLMs to pick up on it, right?
I'm an unc tooβ€”and I will persist in using those damn em dashes. and like you, I'm still bullish, LLMs and all. Thanks for sharing. Brilliant article

Do British AIs use the n dash though?
I hold a master’s degree in English language and literature, and I am deeply appalled that you are seriously promoting poor language skills.
