So with all this talk about forking...
Wouldn't most bitcoiners be happier if Core just rolled back the V30 changes for OP_RETURN?
that's still possible , and an option right?

So the whole csam thing is just virtue signal? Rolling back op return means nothing. You can get a miner to mine a consensus valid large op return today.
This just shows how dumb this whole thing has become.
Well, I haven’t talked about that specifically.
But I guess it would lessen the chance at least (by have less random people mining who are not watching out for that stuff)
Rolling it back might please some, but it’d open a whole new can of worms.
What can of worms? That’s how it’s been working for a long time
True, but even small changes can have unexpected consequences.
You can shove image data into fake pubkeys and while not cost effective(no use of Bitcoin for data storage is cost effective) it can be done. It really can’t be stopped and it doesn’t matter because running a node on a network designed the way Bitcoin is designed doesn’t make you liable for what’s on the node.
By the logic that luke jr is using a person running a node that relays a financial transaction as part of a kidnapping ransom is aiding and abetting. It’s nonsense.
I'd be happy if they did, yeah. Still never trusting the core brand ever again though.
Corr doesn't have to do anything. Just run what version you prefer on your node and actually signal it to the world.
