For an artist who paints, if the only goal becomes 'selling', the canvas dries up and so does his soul. You have to paint to say something that resembles us; every painting must contain a little bit of ourselves. Sales follow when there is truth, not when there is hunger. However, there is also another, harsher truth: hunger really does exist. It is not romantic to ignore it. An artist who has to pay the rent is not 'less pure'. He is only human. Painting just to sell is a problem. But forgetting why you paint is even more so. #art #isolabellart
