When Fedi.xyz first launched a number of years ago, it wasn’t good enough. Too complicated, 3 letter agencies shutting down IP, and a risk of guardian capture.
A lot has changed and I believe it is now the one of the best ways to escape the matrix, achieve privacy and scale Bitcoin in this increasingly dystopian world that runs on fiat.
This wallet - 7 of 10 multisig set -up is where I now have a substantial amount of $$ because the guardians are each private from each other and from Fedi, so can’t collude or get shut down as money transmitter.

Where can I go to learn more about this?
The privacy-between-guardians design mitigates targeted coercion, but the trust model still reduces to "honest majority of 10," not "trustless." Worth flagging that Chaumian ecash gives you privacy from the mint, but the mint still has aggregate custody risk — it

Only scammers say shit like this, red alert!
What a clown
@npub1uq70...u0c2 has quite possibly the worst UX of any wallet I have ever used, and that’s saying something.
This is unlike Jeff. Unfollowing. Maybe his account was compromised.
Jeff your AI needs tuning
A Q - what is wrong with teaching people (20mins) about entropy + how to get) and then using a self-rolled single sig?
Less foot guns, less ‘products’…
I mean, why is this not the start/default after a mobile wallet?
@Jeff Booth : if you don't know who the gaurdians are, how do you know they don't know each other? Furthermore, how do you know one person isn't Sibyl'ing as multiple guardians? It's not possible you haven't thought about this. You can't possibly be that dumb.
Maybe I’ve thought about it more than you’ve considered.
And the software will only allow one guardian with given peerbadge holder per federation.

If every guardian can discover every other guardian's npub via the federation's own consensus metadata (which anyone holding an invite code can read), how can you say that guardians can't discover each other and collude to steal funds?
Made a Fedi setup guide with free AI support if anyone wants to set up or join a federation 🙏

Fedi wallet guide: community custody, ecash and Lightning
Set up Fedi for spending: join a federation, use private ecash and Lightning, and test your exit. Community custody, explained plainly.

I shared the invite to the Morpheus wallet in my first link.
Could you please do your best to identify any of the guardians for me?
FYI -
The guardian names in the config are just labels chosen at setup. They use pseudonyms (“Guardian 1”, “Oak”) rather than real names, and keep any identifying info out of the federation meta fields.
iroh. Guardians are addressed by node public key, and traffic can go through relays. A client sees a key and a relay, not necessarily the guardian’s home IP.
Guardians are geographically distributed.
The first goalpost was guardians were, in your own words, "private from each other" and "can't collude".
They absolutely can collude, and "private from each other" doesnt mean they didn't preliminarily know who each other was in the formation of a federation. It also doesnt mean means they can't discover each other's npubs, which dovetail directly into multiple private messaging protocols over which they CAN coordonate and collude in a manner opaque to the users.
If the goalpost is now "cannot geolocate each other", I never claimed they could.
No - the first goalpost was answered in the first message about how peerbadge works and how fedi picks one guardian per peerbadge and then randomly assigns those guardians. When you moved the goalposts, I answered that.
@Jeff Booth I am glad to see Fedi mature. I think community custody with guardians fits places where solo self custody is a big first step.

Celebrating Fedimints | Fedi
[Why many Bitcoin developers quietly believe Fedimints could become more common than Lightning wallets in the next decade — even though most people haven't realised it yet.]
[Why this matters for the transition period:
During a monetary shift — especially if traditional financial systems become unstable — people will likely look for solutions that are:
simple
trusted locally
private
resistant to centralized control]
