BLE is insecure and has a limited range of 10 meters. It is not being used on bitchat, as most users prefer geohash-based nostr relays, which may compromise privacy by exposing location data and needs internet lol 🤷♂️

It is a radio communication channel. When you encrypt data, BLE is secure like any other way to pass messages.
Other than that fully agree with you. People want comfort, whenever internet is available then that is preferred option.
It's just another option. Bitchat BLE isnt limited just to 20m. A large protest surpresed by the government where they cut the communications, BLE could be a way to coordinate the protest further because as far as I understand it, everyone ble device with Bitchat can act as a router to the next one creating a mesh.
