I think the accurate and clear way to state this is not “money does not require trust” rather “medium of exchange does not require trust”.
Because the very concept “money”, which is a universal medium of exchange, does require agreement and therefore trust between parties.
To the OP’s point though; none of it needs to be legalized, merely lawful between man.
In other words, God has granted us the natural right to transact and that is enough.
