Doctors “knew” for thousands of years that bloodletting patients was very beneficial (standard of care). They “knew” this based on clinical experience (daily practice). Yet, when this belief was put to the test in one of the first ever clinical trials, it was clearly shown that bloodletting patients actually increased risk of dying by 10x! Question everything.

Seems like our bodies have developed to make and hold the correct amount of blood, and other stuff, if we don't screw it up too badly.
Are you skeptical of the germ theory of disease? I find convincing on the virus question, and I'm pretty skeptical of the pathogenic qualities of bacteria now also. I suspect that if bacteria (or for that matter mold or fungus) contaminate a food for a long period they might produce toxic substances, but a spore of one of these microorganisms seems unlikely to me to culture harmfully inside a healthy human. I'm also skeptical of the mutation theory of cancer, and partial to the metabolic theory promoted by Dr. Thomas Seyfried.
