A close friend, and a musician asks me about on-boarding him to Nostr to get with fountain.fm
He’s gonna try this out
I’m wondering about how to best go about it.
I’ll help him get set up on the apps, bitcoin etc but what we need is advice on best practices for setting this up and / or similar opportunities
The artists and musicians are coming bro. help us out

I’ve heard pairing with wavelake mentioned.
Feedback helpful
I would suggest introducing anyone through an onboarding app, like nstart.me . It provides an intro to keys, signers & backup/ handling options, and it creates a follow list. Then, people can choose their own social clients by their taste. When they find a social client they like and check out your use-specific recommendations, they should be pretty set to go. Wavlake.com & Fountain are both excellent choices. Providing a little sampler of apps can help clarify the portable identities.
There's an options in the footer, for you to create a custom onboarding experience that uses your follow list to create one for your friends.
Another I suggest is nosta.me . It introduces the concept of relays & works as a simple profile manager. It has some quirks & tends to be a little slow, so I'd check it out if you haven't and use your judgement.
I view this method as 'best practice' because it places some responsibility on new users, for the clients that they choose. If people are disappointed by their own choice, they are more likely to try another, rather than automatically reducing Nostr down to one app that they didn't like. It also leaves room to swap out music-oriented suggestions for whatever other specific use, whether that be marketplaces, art, streaming, etc. So they can be social & find a use while experiencing the portability of everything.
Excellent advice.
Thanks. 😊
We’re stabbing at it.
We got the keys made and Amethyst app ‘cause he’s on Android.
Myles is on Nostr and now a bitcoiner on a shakepay streak
