I don't want to speculate about their motives, but I've complained about them replacing my content with image links to their cache server or Highlighter or whatnot, and they don't care. They say it's necessary for the UX, but it actually makes the app slower because you can write immediately, but reads get fed through a long, tiny data funnel and fiddled with.
It's why everyone thinks relays are slow. No, relays are really fast. Communication is nearly-instantaneous, in both directions.
But, since so many people use Primal, everyone who "has tried Nostr" has used Primal, so they determine what everyone thinks Nostr is.

their motives are pleasing their VCs and their VCs think this is just another twitter in embryonic form
so their attitude is to hide all that decentralisation and pretend it's a typical app like the VCs have funded before
Well, yea. It's literally a walled garden. It's no different than Twitter. In fact, it's probably worse because they're advertising it as a freedom protocol, but using more deceptive means to make sure that it isn't. At least, on Twitter, they openly block you. On Primal they just distort notes to create their own self-beneficial narrative.
I need to ask, has Primal been "helping" nostrs retention rate or is about the same?
Actually, nevermind I forgot I can just look that up.
He answered me last time. We'll see🤷.

Getting real tired of them not responding to bullshit like this.
TIL Primal stores every advanced search you make, associated with your public key.
