WoT has massive implications on music discovery. Simple question: would you rather listen to music suggested to you by a computer based off what you've already listened to and/or accidentally clicked links on... or Music that 30 of your friends on nostr who have similar taste in music as you, happened to suggest or note about in the past week... No algos means we can find better music faster.

The implications go deep... My son gets big mad when my daughter accidentally plays pop music on his account and suddenly his suggest songs are all "girly music". Now you can play your guilty pleasure song without your crush or gym buddies finding out because your suggested songs are now additionally weighted by what your friends share. WoT doesnt always have to be based on a friend graph either... other metrics can be applied. Especially if you cam "rate" other users in terms of how close they are to you in music taste. These ratings can then propagate and create a music wot matrix parallel to the social wot.
Sorry. WoT recommendation algos ARE STILL algos. Algos are red herring. I know I know… it’s JUST a term of convenience. But it seems kinda pointless (borderline self destructive) to make algos the baddie, when in the end it will be the FREEING of decentralized algos (into the hands of users who will customize them and share the best ones amongst each other) that brings centralized algo engines to heel.
Fair point. When I and most say "algos" they are referring to the current social farming algos that dominate the landscape. For music specifically, the Spotify algo. Yes wot is an algo but its human generated and peer to peer. Having different wot formulas installed on different relays or having clients filter using different wot weights will give people the power of choice. You're absolutely right, the freeing of algos is what we are aiming for. But its easier just to say no algos at this stage.
Its a cool idea. I like having an easy way to pull media. My focus is on helping artists to build an ecosystem free of the legacy powers. I'd like to entirely bypass those channels and deliver original content direct from the DeMu ecosystem. Just like how streaming helped cut the cable, I want to usher in a disconnect from legacy music.
