I really do need to market better 😬
I’m just starting to get some infra public, I’ll get around to a general site for myself with more complete info at some point.
An interested pleb should look up the CPU of each machine on
as that will make the single biggest difference in long term feasibility. I did a quick compare for the desktops as fast as possible (dayjob, 🤫) for simplicity. I do not recommend anything below 2000. Most decent consumer computers post-2014 cpu mfg date will easily clear this hurdle. I believe the new pi 5 does meet this particular criteria of mine, but I still disqualify them as viable nodes.
Beyond cpu, storage is the next thing to think about. 1tb is fine, 2tb is better, but you don’t really have to have a full archival node if you are cutting cost corners - so the 128gb I include in the laptops gets you by in a pinch, while still having 1 bay free for expansion.
After storage, memory is next. Max it. Doesn’t matter if it’s overkill, it’s cheap enough not to skimp on when possible. 8gb min imo
