Following the post of @franzap, I’ve been working (in my free time) on a UX proposal for @Start9 — because sovereign tech deserves to be beautiful and simple. Here’s a quick 3-screen redesign preview. Why redesign Start9? The tech is world-class: Bitcoin node, Nostr relay, self-hosted apps… all in one box. But the current UI? Built for devs. Goal: Let your mom run a server in <15 min. No CLI. No confusion. Just sovereignty. ⚡️Screen 1: Marketplace • Featured carousel with real apps (Mempool, Bitcoin Knots, Nostr RS) • Search + filters (Bitcoin / Social / Lightning) • “Apps We Love” → social proof • One-click install previews Normies don’t read docs. They swipe. ⚡️Screen 2: Home • Big, bold app icons (like iOS) • Live widgets: Bitcoin price, sync %, server health • Quick actions: “Open in Browser”, “Monitor”, “Support” • Empty slots = “Add new service” Familiar = fast adoption. ⚡️Screen 3: Health & Alerts (proactive, not reactive) • “No Connection” → clear explanation + fix button • Disk, CPU, Temp in plain language • All systems green? Celebrate it. Errors should teach, not scare. This is just a proposal. @Start9 — happy to share Figma files, user flows, or iterate together. Let’s make personal servers as easy as a smart TV. #bitcoin #nostr #design #OpenSource #node DM or zap ⚡️ if you want to help.

100% agree, start9 servers are excellent products; I would even say they are the best personal servers on the market. However, I feel it needs to catch up with normy-land to make it attractive for running your own server version and not relying on centralized services. Design and simplification of complex engineering are key to mass adoption.
We appreciate this Erik, and very cool. But the UI has already been redesigned for StartOS 0.4.0 and is code complete. We think you'll love it.
