I would often be mistaken for a libertarian by people lacking nuanced thought who make polarized black and white statements. But wouldn't the kind of free trade a "libertarian" would want mean no tariffs on either side?
Many people who call themselves libertarian are royalists. They seek favor from a King to leave them alone. What that king does to other people, they don't care about. They might even believe that ideally there would be no king and they would still be left alone.
Everybody is a hypocrite eventually. You merely need the circumstance to surface, and bring it out. ( Yes, probably me too lol )

free trade as libertarians describe it (not the George W Bush version) is the free movement of goods without government imposed barriers. We have no free trade that I’m aware of with any country in the world
