It seems what's stopping a drop-in replacement to Windows at this point is not a technical barrier. It's that Valorant, League of Legends, Fortnite, Apex, Destiny 2, Roblox and Siege actively detect and block your account if you run the game through Linux.

All those games are the instagram or tiktok of gaming. So no shit they would pair with windows. Anyone who cares about their gaming freedom probably isn't going to give a shit about those games.

On Fortnite at least, Easy Anti-Cheat has supported Proton for years and enabling it is a switch the developer flips. Epic has chosen not to flip it, on the stated reasoning that Linux's openness makes cheat detection harder to guarantee. Policy, not a technical wall.

The fortnite issue has been solved, it's only a matter of time for the release.
