Amethyst is a clear simple quartz with iron impurities that make the purple color. Nostr is the simple quartz and we are the impurities. :)

i didn't know it was iron. wow. that makes 4 colors i know of that come from iron. fun fact, if you heat it for a long period you can eliminate the purple, it turns orange.

Very rare natural occurrences. Lots of rockshops will sell you orange brazillian amethyst that's just been baked by humans.
