Bitcoin is the direct answer to this. It is a decentralized network, not a company. It's operated by thousands of participants across the globe, making it impossible for any single person or group to control it. There is no CEO to corrupt, no server to shut down, no one who can arbitrarily change the rules. It's a system of rules without rulers.
