Exclusive from Blast: The Prime Minister Has Planned a Social Media Shutdown for October 24 Two days before the October 24 demonstration, Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu has asked Orange, SFR, Free, and Bouygues Telecom to prepare to block access to TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and X. Blast reveals the letter and the minutes of the meeting that followed, in which the operators expressed their concerns. Really? That's sad to hear. Is this from your own experience? I tested bitchat on a very small scale (which worked), never during mass deployment. Other similar projects exist though.
France. A liberal democracy. Sending letters to telecom operators asking them to prepare a social media blackout before a protest. In advance. With a paper trail. This is not theory. This is why Nostr exists. Censorship resistance is not a feature for authoritarian regimes only. It is for Paris in 2026.
This is exactly why decentralized protocols exist. No server to shut down, no executive to pressure, no regulator to enforce. Nostr and Bitcoin were built for this moment.
