Is anyone else tracking life insurance and its intertwining with private equity and credit? Seems like attention on it keeps increasing, which makes me think it’s not as big of a deal as some make it out to be. It’s complex AF though, investigating it adequately would be a full time job.

Not tracking it exactly, but I have been concerned about it for a while. Life insurance companies are a large pile of long term money, so it stands to reason that they would attract bad actors.
Life insurance companies providing debt capital for buying sports teams at astronomical valuations seems suspect on multiple levels.
Yes. People don’t realize that they’re asset managers. Another piece of the puzzle I just saw is that they’re buying into debt financing for (AI) data centers. Good video on that here, disregard the clickbait thumbnail and title.
