Bitcoin getting codified as an asset is scary. We needed it codified as currency. That would solve everything including taxation issues. They need to just admit it’s a currency, not an asset. It was set up that way to be tax-advantageous to the government. It’s bullshit, really.

Easy to say. Scary to do. Who wants to give them more ammo by spending Bitcoin so that they get a huge chunk of the gains in the form of taxation to fund the gestapo that will arrest you and torture you psychologically? Scary being a Bitcoiner with all the governments and banks that have entered the space. It’s not what I remember it being from 2010-2015ish.

Organized society is secondary to the establishment of a monopoly on violence in a given jurisdiction. The reality is that whoever establishes and maintains that violence monopoly in the jurisdiction you reside within WILL extract value from the economy (you) via coercion. This is the reward for achieving the monopoly on violence. This is true amongst any and all forms of government. If your government doesn’t do this, they will have economic disadvantages against adversaries who do, and will eventually be overcome by them. The new rulers will then proceed to extract value from the economy (you) via coercion. There I no argument that they “can’t tax you. The only question is to what extent will they enforce the tax laws. Of all the made up laws and regulations, tax law seems to be the most rigidly enforced. It’s not going to get better with AI.

Yeah, we are in the “the fight you stage” regardless of how much it feels like we are winning. The more of these kinds of regulations they are drafting and are passed to control the use of Bitcoin in any shape or form, is detrimental to the cause, in my opinion. I’m here for the Libertarian/cypherpunk Bitcoin. Not this corporate/fed reserve bank/government shit. Oh well. Bitcoin is for enemies, too.

I feel that. And resonate with what you are saying and want to scream that from the rooftops, too. Just scared of the repercussions when the tax bill comes due after they’d find out what I was spending and not reporting. 🤷‍♂️ Graybar Hotel visits kinda suck.

The pencil pushers and computer geeks at the IRS that audit bank accounts and everything else. You’re KYC’ed, so I’m sure all your exchanges are documented in a tidy file for the IRS to see. Just seems hard to get away with it. And what happens the day they have AI process their current dataset and we all stick out like sore thumbs? Not a stretch for them to map IP addresses to some transactions that occurred a decade ago then tax you on them. Idk. Just scary thinking about them having the rest of my life to figure out what I’ve gained over the decades and then send a big fat tax bill or a threat of going to prison or taking my assets. 🤷‍♂️
Yeah, AI. KYC. The day they use ai and realize that I hallucinates they’ll have too many false positives. They’ll give up. It’s not their money. Go home bot.
