It seems that #Nostr is again in a #spam fever. WoT, paid relays, the origin and goals of spam bots are being discussed again. When the prankster gets tired of testing the system, everyone will calm down again and forget.
But there is no long-term and feasible solution to this problem and it is unlikely to appear. Paid relays are discussed from the first event, but the user base, which is not growing much anyway, will quickly shrink in this case. The weak point of WoT is that spam bots can subscribe to real people as many times as they want, expecting a subscription in return and getting into WoT(s). Musk also promised to rid Twitter of spam and bots, but nothing has happened, although in terms of control over what is happening on the servers, Company X has much more.
Meanwhile, I write rarely, I use the same relays as six months or year ago, and I don’t see that many dicks in asses (yesterday I saw one for the first and only time). Maybe the source is some new and popular relay, or maybe I'm not in some specific WoT that has been spammed.
