Excessive scientism being applied to religious texts is turning everyone against the texts. But like, we answered that question, when we confirmed that the Earth traveled around the Sun.
I suspect our ancestors just had brains that could think on different wavelengths and we're all getting mentally cropped-down and dulled.

Probably why everyone is getting into shrooms. Trying to tap into their inner mystic, with a shortcut. But, that mystic is actually already there, we've just cut it off.
I also think, for myself, that this is what Jesus meant, when He said we should be like children. Children don't overanalyze everything. They just accept that they can't understand everything, but they trust the persons in charge and it will all be fine.
I heard a discussion a while ago between Jordan Peterson and Bishop Robert Barron that touched on psychedelics and mysticism.
Bishop Barron basically suggested that a psychedelic trip might be akin to a mystical experience, but without the framework of religious values, and the discipline of fasting and prayer, we have a harder time making sense of it.
