I heard a discussion a while ago between Jordan Peterson and Bishop Robert Barron that touched on psychedelics and mysticism. Bishop Barron basically suggested that a psychedelic trip might be akin to a mystical experience, but without the framework of religious values, and the discipline of fasting and prayer, we have a harder time making sense of it.
