It's actually a delicacy. This mushroom is delicious cooked or fried with garlic, onion, chili, and vegetables. In Mexico, it's often served as a taco filling.
Most farmers are less enthusiastic about it...because it disrupts the growth of the corn kernels.
If the summer is very humid, there is more mushroom on the corn cob.
