My name is Irina Samchuk. I live in Kharkiv, Ukraine — but borders have never defined me. I teach Russian and Ukrainian to students all over the world, because language is not a flag or a passport — it’s a way to truly understand each other.
I grew up bilingual, speaking both Russian and Ukrainian. I believe knowledge should be free, and words can be more powerful than any system. Today, I teach over 40 students — adults and children — from many different countries. Together, we learn to speak, to listen, to connect. It’s not just about grammar — it’s about breaking walls.
By training, I’m a philologist and a geologist, with a Ph.D. in Earth Sciences. I teach geology and GIS at V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University and create online educational content on platforms like YouTube and Udemy.
I’ve taught in China as well, giving lectures at universities. My work explores how the Earth is built — but what really fascinates me is how people relate to one another on it.
I don’t believe in hard lines — not in language, not in life. I believe in collaboration, curiosity, and mutual respect. I feel close to the idea of freedom — personal, creative, intellectual.
Everything else is just structure. We’re not here to obey it.
And yes — I teach Russian in Ukraine. Maybe that’s my quiet rebellion. Because language is not the enemy.
Because freedom is language.
And I speak.
Меня зовут Ирина Самчук. Я живу в Харькове, но границы — это не про меня. Я преподаю русский и украинский языки людям со всего мира, потому что язык — это не флаг и не паспорт, это способ понять друг друга глубже.
С детства я говорю на двух языках и верю, что знание — свободно, а слово — сильнее любой системы. Сегодня у меня более 40 учеников, взрослые и дети, из самых разных стран и контекстов. Мы учим говорить, понимать, чувствовать. Мы не просто ставим ударения — мы снимаем барьеры.
По образованию я филолог и геолог, кандидат наук, преподаватель университета. Я работаю в Харьковском национальном университете, читаю лекции, веду курсы по геологическим наукам, ГІС, а ещё создаю обучающие программы на платформах вроде Udemy и YouTube.
Я часто бываю в Китае, работала там в университетах. Мои лекции — о том, как устроена Земля. Но по-настоящему меня интересует то, что связывает людей на ней.
Я не верю в железные рамки. Ни в языке, ни в жизни. Я выбираю сотрудничество, обмен, уважение. Мне близки идеи свободы — личной, творческой, профессиональной.
Всё остальное — просто форма, которой мы не обязаны подчиняться.
И да — да, я преподаю русский язык в Украине. Это мой тихий бунт. Потому что язык не может быть врагом.
Потому что свобода — это и есть язык.
И я говорю.
