Aye i know what's been happening with gelboru and kiwifarms (since i kind of experienced the same as well for deg mods). I know what to do, but it's a pretty big thing to do that requires time, manpower, money, and marketing, as it requires the development of 2 systems (the core system, a DCDN with WoT at the front, and an economic boost system to spread it and basically make it more popular and powerful than cloudflare or any other system combined overtime).
So ya, I'd want to fix this issue (a long with the discord issue, localization issue, icann issue that you already know about that'd also solve email and username/password, mods and steam/itch issue that you know too, ads issue, browser issue, crowdfunding issue, and so on. I do want to tackle all of them (can and are as you are seeing, but slowly because of limited resources and fiat/legal chokes), including that cloudflare issue, but ya because of limit resources (at least currently) things are moving slow.
I could've moved a lot faster, but legal and geopolitics and the state of the fiat world is preventing me from doing so (still trying wiggle out and get things moving, and i think things will soon, but not sure). If not for politics and geopolitics roadblocks, deg mods would've advanced much further than it is right now and have gotten a lot more adoption, and the pre-alpha for DEGA would be planned for properly release within a couple of months, but as you know "it is what it is" =P
