Enjoyed the talk 🤙🏼
Just listened 🤝
Very good video, in a moment I made the payment for my second week in Prism #gold. 👌⚡

Twitter is a centralized platform. Nostr is an open protocol. One requires KYC and permission. The other doesn’t even require an email.
You can still click links on twitter without being logged in
But you can’t add a link on Twitter without being logged in, so maybe that’s the difference. Non-KYC Two-way communication vs one-way KYC communication.
Well, first, while you can’t use twitter without being logged in, there is still no KYC. You can easily use it with proton main or similar or even with your self hosted email service with some efforts and virtual/prepaid phone numbers, no KYC at all
But if spreading links (lnurl) is “sending bitcoin payments” then the future is already here — just print lnurl qr code and put it in real world on walls and trees, no KYC and sign up
I just don’t understand why ppl need to attach some magic to nostr that has no relation to it.
Do we really want to manipulate people to join nostr because of the things nostr doesn’t completely relate to?
this is a dope talk. loved it. love to see it. more power to you

It’s simple. Nostr is a protocol, not a platform. It’s censorship resistant and permissionless. It’s the only place that allows Lightning users to react to messages by “Zap” instead of “Like”. The possibilities are endless. Check out Mutiny wallet. They added connectivity to Nostr, so the wallet works just like Venmo. Telling people to join a protocol is very different than telling people to join a centralized platform. It’s like the difference between promoting commodities vs unregistered securities. One is ethical, the other not so much.
Nostr is the only place with zaps because in other places lightning transactions are called differently :)
Do you know how zaps work? Take lnurl and put it to your website - lightning users would be able to zap your website. Print your poem and stick it on a tree and add lnurl qr code there - lightning users would be able yo zap you
How is nostr different here?
How is Nostr different? It's different because we are both here, rather than meeting at a tree, on my website, or on a centralized platform that can kick us out 🫂⚡️🤙
And this is cool! But it has nothing to do with “nostr is the future of bitcoin payments”.
I just hate when people who promote bitcoin, where often times values are “stay humble”, “DYOR”, “low time preference” — use the dirtiest click bait tricks from regular social media just to sound more cool. Its wrong. Its lies
Nostr didn’t change anything in terms of bitcoin payments not it could change anything with those payments in foreseeable future
Nostr is great and disruptive but we should not spread straight lies in favor of some hype.
Nostr is payments agnostic. It doesn’t have any connections to bitcoin except for the fact that many early nostr devs happen to be also bitcoin enthusiasts
Well, it sounds like you didn’t watch his presentation. Nostr changes everything because it handles coordination and communication for the masses. There were no lies in his presentation or note.
Layer 1: Money
Layer 2: Payments
Layer 3: Communication
What do they all have in common? They are all permissionless censorship-resistant protocols. No single entity controls them, so it’s perfectly ethical to promote them. As I mentioned earlier, Mutiny added Nostr and instantly became better than Venmo with very little effort. Having a protocol for coordination and communication changes everything.
I don’t watch his presentations, its enough to see such a clickbait text.
Nostr protocol is as permissionless as websockets protocol or http protocol or tcp/ip protocol — it just passes data around in a specific format
Notably, http and websocket protocols host facebook and jp morgan which most of the people consider centralized.
The way that nostr introduced specific API format to build apps is not an innovation. The fact that people decided to attach lnurl to each post conveniently and branded it under cool name - is awesome but also doesn’t bring anything new
Only if developers AND users who use bitcoin untie around this idea and this protocol could make it censorship resistant, permissionless and help bitcoin adoption
Simple test, if “the nostr protocol” would be not websocket but http would it change things dramatically? If today FB added possibility to zap for citizens of Vatican would it dramatically improve the way bitcoin transfers are working today?
Bitcoin is great. Nostr is awesome. None of the is mainstream. Both have huge potential. No need to clickbait and manipulate people in order to… idk what? Attract newbies? Improve own followers base?
Sure, Nostr's clients and apps are centralized like JP Morgan and FB, but Nostr clients don’t own their users...except ZBD 😂. With Nostr, users can opt in and out, which is a huge innovation compared to legacy systems. They all use the same internet protocols, but Nostr follows the ethos of Bitcoin and Lightning. The ability to onboard new users anywhere in the world without KYC, and be able to transition from client to client without losing identity, notes, and followers is an incredible innovation when it comes to global payments and money. I guess I don’t see it as clickbait because the potential is real.
Except ZBD lol 😂

Bitcoin its not layer 3
Nostr its not layer 3
last week?
That’s actually amazing. I got a little confused when it came to nostr gold. But the tech is very interesting.
