I've noticed a decrease in activity from some accounts on #Nostr lately. Do you think it's because most of the prominent topics are focused on zaps and zapathons? And, how can we encourage more diverse & engaging discussions? ⁉️💡

I have realized this too
I think some of it is just being early, I bet 99% of the first internet forum users were really into computers. Maybe some way of identifying interest lists? Hashtags work OK but there is prob a better way of doing it.

Perhaps there was an inflow of people such as myself, brought in light of the Damus vs Apple case. In my case, despite being a Twitter user for as long as I can remember, I never interacted much for not finding there the community spirit I see here. I’m still finding my way, and people are being very friendly and helpful, so I hope to share and exchange more over time. If you are new to #nostr and reading this, feel free to reach out, this is a vibrant place built on top of an exciting tech.
Also more people being aware of and caring about the fact that we’re all constantly being fucked in the ass in sly roundabout ways by the platforms, software, and hardware we use would help Unfortunately 99% of the time when “education” is the answer to a widespread problem, virtually no progress is made Yes this note is emo af, sorry

It’s funny bc at first all the Bitcoin and zapping did turn me off but one thing that kept me coming back and also got me to start zapping was #artstr and #tunestr I’m on Bluesky too but it’s seemingly having a similar problem. Nostr has kind of taken the lead for me as for as interest goes because of the hashtags and some of the clients. Getting zapped does help too lol but that requires initial effort so might turn off the masses🤷🏼‍♂️

One thing that’s nicer on nostr (at the expense of the bsky/at devs) is the appreciation of the underlying tech The devs get shredded for the dumbest shit on #bsky and they cave to the social media rather than the #decentralized protocol it seems This has created an student government type of community which is not a compliment imo Overall it’s still awesome and promising just my 2 cents
It would help, and during times like these, we are seriously being tested 💜 More than ever
