They just announced an early dismissal from our local school system today.
The reason?
Slight Chace of a severe thunderstorm THIS EVENING.

The only reasoning I can see is that some of these kiddos don't get off of a school bus until 5 pm or later these days. In our area, heavy thunderstorms can often mean flash flooding.
