Whatsapp continues its degeneration. In the latest pain-point, it now refuses to let me share anything until I give it permission to access my Contacts. Like that's going to work!

I only installed it last year when I moved back home (Pakistan) because it's so entrenched in the system here. Still use Signal for everything else.
I am from india so i can relate. But after deleting i removed all unwanted friends and rishtedaar contacts
I guess I just need to be stronger!
Telegram has basically gone the same route of become more and more unusable.
I never understood Telegram's reputation as being private, recall that their chats were not encrypted by default.
Yeah, it's not private at all and they offload most all data to gov surveilance too
