You have less permitting requirements if you were to go the legal route. County inspectors and officials are usually not as uptight. And an added plus if your land is zoned ag (AHJ dependent) what you can build opens up. A barn or outbuilding needs far less. I had a shed and inspector told me put an outlet in it.
