There is only auto/shadow banning in amethyst, not damus. Clients can choose to shadowban if they want, but this has nothing to do with the protocol.
I suggest not supporting clients that do this.

Thanks, for your answer. I think I may be getting slightly less confused. This blocking system thingum 'NIP56' is not across all clients?
Or am I getting even more confused lolol. Hard to tell when you're a silly goose ππͺΏ
See here for more info, surprised it's not widely known by now tbh:

Wen Android?
(imo!) You really shouldn't be onboarding anyone to nostr (imo!) especially if they are an android user, or if you do explain that there are shadowbans on amethyst (the most usable client), and that it's a work in progress, other mobile clients are rusty (like you can't upload pictures etc). Otherwise you'll have people complete disillusioned with all the 'censorship resistance' talk. Β―β \β _β (β γβ )β _β /β Β―
No one's gonna care that it is at client level and not protocol level

I'd quite like to see an open discussion on moderation / shadowbans with @Vitor Pamplona and @jb55 (and others) at #nostrasia in a friendly manner ofc lol. But yeah it would be good and interesting to have the reasoning and differences of approach out in the open and explained a bit more

Nakadai did point out that Vitor has worked on tracking software for the WHO... I jumped out of his garbage when plebstr became Ok.
Just look at his github projects.
There's a good chance that his quick delivery is because he has a team dunded by spooks.
Anyways. Steer clear.
