In most cultures historically, children lived with or near family until marriage - often in multi-generational homes where land, resources, and care were shared.
The idea that individual self-sufficiency is a virtue is a Western invention. Hyper-individualism frames staying connected as weakness. Moving out at 18 fragments families, piles on financial and emotional strain, and locks young adults into the hamster wheel of debt.
There shouldn’t be stigma around staying or returning home. This is the modern village!
Even if your family dynamics aren’t perfect, you still have the chance to rewrite the story — and create stronger foundations for the generations to come. 🙌

we're heading back there because buying a house is for a select few now, multi-family homes are pretty much a staple in my country and subculture!
And I agree sharing costs allow the younger ones to take risk and start businesses and expand the families wealth so the next generation has a better footing to kick off from
All part of the game, we're all delt a different set of cards, just have to learn to play with the hand you're dealt
100%, my plan is to build a multi generational home within the next 5 years.
Agreed! more W2s more taxes, more worker drone slaves in the system.
Great idea ☺️
no victim mindset!

HowHow are you my friend I am from Yemen and we suffer from wars and problems and my financial situation is very difficult can you help me buy food for my family to eat humanitarian service
I really want to agree with this one but there’s another reason other than pride for fleeing your parents house early, sometimes the environment can really hold you back, to say it lightly.
Some people say that happy, rich families are all the same but each of the poor ones are fucked up in unique ways and I guess this thought applies here.
No money in the world can pay for peace of mind mind but still, getting trapped in the hamster wheel isn’t fun either.
Getting rid of the poor mindset out of older generations can be tough or outright impossible.
I don’t think there’s an easy answer here, honestly.

Easier said than done in Australia 🤑🤑
Western hyper-individualism sold us the lie that leaving home = freedom. In reality, it often = debt + isolation. Multi-generational living is not weakness, it’s strength.
Always thought this was true!
