🌊 SURF 'N TURF 🏝️ -THE BORACAY ISLAND LIFE- THE DOOMSDAY DJ: TUNES FOR THE POST APOCALYPSE Frank Zappa: Gone to soon on 4 December, 1993 "A mind is like a parachute; it only works when it is open." Remembering American musician, composer, songwriter, producer, guitarist, actor, and filmmaker Frank Vincent Zappa (21 December, 1940 – 4 December, 1993) who died of prostate cancer 25 years ago today, aged 52. A highly productive and prolific artist, earning widespread acclaim from critics and fellow musicians, he had some commercial success, particularly in Europe, and worked as an independent artist for most of his thirty year plus career. His work was characterised by nonconformity, free-form improvisation, sound experiments, musical virtuosity, and satire of American culture. His honours include an induction into the 1995 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the 1997 Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award. In 2004, Rolling Stone magazine ranked him at number 71 on its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time," and in 2011 at number 22 on its list of the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time." Fans can listen to some examples of his music here: 1. "Boogie" from "Imaginary Diseases", a 2006 album of material by Frank from the Petit Wazoo tour of 1972. 2. "Apostrophe (')", an instrumental jam featuring Cream bassist Jack Bruce and drummer Jim Gordon, the title track from his 1974 album, the most commercially successful album in his lifetime. 3.
