Tajikistan isn’t the best for diesel outside the main cities, and the quality is apparently “questionable”, so we filled with enough to get us through to Dushanbe (the capital) where there is good diesel available. The other ‘stans haven’t been a problem at all, especially Kazakhstan where it’s very cheap!
