Minus the crusades thing by the way the crusades were terrible

War is king of all things

Maybe. People speak of them that way, but I think our lives would have been very different if the Christians had not defended Europe from those who had conquered everywhere else. I don't think it was the "conversion by force" it's portrayed as now. But I need to research it more.

I’m about half way through this and IMO it is a balanced look at things like the crusades. Goes into the good and the bad.

In the end the question is, what did Jesus call us to do? I don’t think the crusades fit that.

The picture is incomplete unless you also study the history of Islam. A one-sided war makes no sense. In a sense, I agree. It's not what we want our Christian lives to be like, and Jesus' message wasn't militant when it easily could have been. But even Jesus did and does things people don't think Jesus would do.

Thanks for the recommendation. I haven't fully concluded on it yet. It seems like something we saw positively until it was lumped in with the inquisition in our understanding, not many decades ago.
