The pseudo-religions of socialism, the welfare state, and collectivism (today refined by ecologism, climate hysteria, and gender equality delusion), which deny transcendent powers, replace them with the self-deification of man. "The self-deification of man," as Röpke states in "Mass und Mitte," "takes the form of the deification of society, which thus becomes the true idol of the masses, and only then does the passionate force inherent in the politicization of existence become comprehensible." This development is progressing unstoppably. What will follow from it was most succinctly formulated by Romano Guardini: "Europe will be Christian, or it will not be at all." - ROLAND BAADER
