I was in the parking lot directly across from the no king (aka the other king) protest and some fat old lady was waddling toward the crowd with an anti-trump sign. I said “excuse me” to get her attention and then asked her why she didn’t want to protest against the federal government as an institution. She was shocked, paused for a bit, then said “because we need somebody to keep the corporations in check!” I pointed out the fact that corporations wouldn’t exist without legal status from the federal government and wouldn’t have representative politicians to capture if there was no federal government. Again, pauses, getting angry now. She bursts out finally: “oh you’re just a libertarian!” and tries to scuttle away. I said “I’m an anarchist. But that has no impact on the reality of what I pointed out. Wake up lady.” 😂
