Yeah though times for channel operators. They'd best just take a beat and wait to see how it all shakes out. Then they can decide which fork they want to be on. Doesn't matter much for me on my one channel with pocket change liquidity on it but some of these guys are carrying serious risk.
You mean better to close channels for now and wait? Even take it off from the lightning node or just off lightning network?
Yeah a few days before it all goes down I would force close and settle everything on chain if I was carrying any real liquidity. For me I'll just empty my zap channel to a custodial wallet and Zeus can pay to force close the channel on their end if they want to. I'm not paying fees for that small change.

I knew it was a one way problem but didn't think about it in terms of miners. I'd say if the most part of transactions uses OP_RETURN then wouldn't make sense to activate it because less tx less fees? Just my first thoughts tho 🤔
Getting a few extra block rewards in a two week period outweighs a year's worth of fees right now.
