Any time you have a public space where anyone can post anything they want, you WILL have spam. The only way to reduce spam is to limit 1. Who can post, or 2. Whose posts you can see. I don't think Bitchat has any mechanism for either of these options yet.

Yep, that would be a "limiting of who can post." Which always requires some form of authority. Does Bitchat have any authority structure for these geohash chats? Do they have the ability to ban people?

Afaik, No. Its not supposed to be that. I think its Bluetooth and local first approach. Filtering spam is easy, when everyone is just there. In global hash, the local model fails. Ip bans and shit like that is the only way. Your " limiting clause". Idk how they will handle it, lets see hehe. The semicolon troll is beautiful its not a flood of spam, it's just when someone doesn't use ; it activates. Haha. Everyone types ; to stop it. In the flow of convo we forget it and bam. Beautiful.

The whole bluetooth mesh thing is interesting, but limited use-case. I think that's why the geohash feature was added. But then, that comes with a spam issue, and no real way to mitigate it.
