People don't demand anything, they want what others say it's nice, privacy does not sell, people want phones with good specs, top camera, nice design, you give them a good phone and then stick GOS and maybe some exclusive apps or SW makeup and that's it. even if they use gapps but sandboxed it's already a good step.
