My wife got pulled over by the cops today Car was unregistered My licence had been cancelled They refused to let her drive anywhere until outstanding fines had been paid I knew nothing about them They’d been contacting an old address 900$ of speeding fines from the last 6/12 months Good reminder: it’s a pay to play system friends You pay us. You carry on You don’t pay us. You’re stuck After 40 mins of bouncing around service NSW on the phone, I was able to find out why my car was de-registered, and why my licence was cancelled, and ultimately what I had to pay to make the problem go away $900 aud… I don’t even know the details of each breach as they couldn’t tell me Plus I’ve picked up 5 demerit points, which is yet another “get some more of these and you’re banned” Obviously the state is better informed to judge the speed with which a father should drive his family around on a road… “You have the freedom to move” Until you don’t…

Refused to pay a “failure to vote” notice in a local council election. Last warning was a “Sherrif will clamp your car if not paid immediately” My wife did vote in that election.
