Since Segwit was included, every change to the Bitcoin protocol has meant a degradation of the network and a step backwards in decentralization.
Segwit itself was a compromise to silence the big blocks.
Taproot has been an even bigger disaster and, in terms of security, worse than Segwit.
The latest changes from Core have been to stop updating filters and allow more spam.
Think about it in perspective: the state/system is winning battle after battle.
The essence of Bitcoin is being lost; we really should limit the block size to 300KB.

Iām in favour of exploring a temporary 300KB block size reduction after we deal with the arbitrary data.
