I have yet to use a client that uses inbox/outbox to be as reliable for not finding notes… users need one read relay and a blaster relay for maximum note findability imho

fair enough, but that doesn't speak to the model itself, but the clients failing to implement it (ios, right?)
wisp for example, does both. it reads from the big relays like a typical client IN ADDITION TO also looking at the authors specific inbox relays
