I hear you on the complexity, but aren't there situations where people want self-determination without needing a savior? What does that look like to you?

I am not saying they have concern for Iranians. This is not how politics works. The regime was brutal against its own people. It was stupid enough to make enemies with more powerful states. They fucked around, they found out.
