I hate when people tell others what to do with their bitcoin.
Bitcoin is for doing whatever the fuck you want with it, be it saving, spending, zapping, gifting, dancing like no one is watching, the list goes on.

…but if that doesn’t involve getting more of it in self custody as consistently as possible, their loss i guess

I just spent bitcoin on this post.
The only thing I'll give my opinion on is if you give or leave bitcoin with a custodian and somehow believe you have some.
You merely have a promise and that promise has been broken so many times, and recently too, that it's crazy how anyone would think it won't happen to them.

I liked when people told me not to give my bitcoin to shitcoin scammers and to take custody of my keys. I would’ve gotten wrecked if they didn’t.
